Launch of data collection in Malawi

June 2018: The Center for Child Well-being and Development at University of Zurich launched its data collection for its project on harmful practices against children and teenagers, which takes place in Malawi.

The goal of this data collection is to document prevalence of traditional practices that harm the development and well-being of children. Furthermore, the study involves several randomized interventions and behavioral experiments that will shed light on underlying motivations and behavioral mechanisms. According to Simon Hänni, senior researcher at CCWD: “This deep understanding is key when designing policies intended to address harmful traditional practices in the future.”
